In a bustling Milton Keynes city filled with noise and hurried footsteps, there lived a young man named Daniel. He had recently lost his job and the weight of uncertainty pressed heavily on his shoulders. Bills were piling up and the fear of failure haunted him daily. Daniel felt small, vulnerable and utterly lost. He had always dreamed of starting his own business, a cozy café where people could gather and find comfort, but now, that dream felt like a distant fantasy.
One rainy afternoon, as Daniel sat in a park, staring at the puddles forming around his feet, an elderly man named Mr. Kay approached him. Mr. Kay was a retired billionaire businessman who often visited the park to feed the birds. He noticed Daniel’s troubled expression and sat down beside him.
You look like you’re carrying the weight of the world, Mr. Kay said gently. Daniel sighed and shared his struggles, the lost job, the mounting bills and the dream that seemed impossible. Mr. Kay listened intently, then smiled. You know, he said, there’s a verse in the Bible that has always encouraged me. It’s from Job 8:7: ‘Though your beginning was small, yet your latter end would greatly increase. Every great thing starts small. Even the tallest tree was once just a seed. What matters is not where you start, but the faith and hope you carry in your heart. Trust that God can grow your efforts into something beautiful.

Regulars started to form, and Daniel’s cart became a little haven for people rushing to work or taking a moment to breathe.
One day, a local blogger stopped by and wrote a glowing review of Daniel’s coffee cart. Overnight, his small business gained attention, and soon, he was able to rent a small space for his dream café. With the help of friends and loyal customers, Daniel transformed the space into a cozy, welcoming spot filled with the aroma of freshly brewed coffee and the sound of laughter.
Years later, Daniel stood behind the counter of his thriving café, watching as people gathered to share stories and find comfort. He thought back to that rainy day in the park and the wise words of Mr. Kay. Thank You, Lord, he whispered. You took my small beginnings and turned them into something beautiful. Your blessings are greater than I could have ever imagined.
No matter how small or uncertain your beginnings, faith and hope can lead to incredible blessings. When we trust in God’s plan and take courageous steps forward, even the most daunting challenges can become opportunities for growth and abundance. As Job 8:7 reminds us, Though your beginning was small, yet your latter end would greatly increase.
Heavenly Father I lift up the reader to YOU today, asking that Your divine favour would rest upon every effort of their hands and cause what they plant in faith to flourish into something beautiful for Your glory; bless and establish the work of their hands (Psalm 90:17), and let them find favour and good success in Your sight (Proverbs 3:4). May they be like a tree planted by streams of water, yielding fruit in season, whose leaf does not wither—prospering in all You have ordained (Psalm 1:3). Go before them and make the crooked places straight (Isaiah 45:2), opening the windows of heaven and pouring out blessings beyond measure (Malachi 3:10). Let their future shine brightly with the abundance of Your goodness (Jeremiah 29:11), and may every increase testify to Your faithfulness and grace, in Jesus Name, Amen.
