Ato, a young college student, sat quietly in the corner of the campus café, scrolling through social media. His faith had always been a core part of his life, but lately, he had been feeling the pressure of ridicule and doubt. In his philosophy class, the professor openly mocked the idea of God, calling it “a relic of the past.” His friends often teased him, saying, “You really believe in all that Bible stuff? The world’s been the same for billions of years, why hasn’t Jesus come back yet?”

The questions and scoffing began to weigh on Ato. Was his faith outdated? Was he wrong to believe in the promises of God? That night, feeling overwhelmed, he opened his Bible and stumbled upon 2 Peter 3:3:
“Above all, you must understand that in the last days scoffers will come, scoffing and following their own evil desires.”

As Ato read those words, it was as if God was speaking directly to him. The Bible had already predicted this! Scoffers and doubters were nothing new, they had been around since the beginning of time. Ato realized that their mockery didn’t disprove God’s promises; it fulfilled them. The verse reminded him to stay firm in his faith, knowing that God’s timing was perfect and His promises were unshakable.

Ato prayed that night: “Lord, thank You for reminding me that You are in control, even when the world seems to doubt. Help me to stand firm in my faith and not be swayed by ridicule or pressure. Strengthen my heart and remind me that Your promises are true, even when others deny them. I trust You, God.”

From that day forward, Jordan approached his faith with renewed confidence. When his professor or friends mocked his beliefs, he didn’t feel the need to argue or defend himself angrily. Instead, he prayed for them, shared his faith with kindness, and trusted that God was working in their hearts. The scoffing no longer shook him, it only reminded him that Scripture had already warned him about this and that God’s Word always proves true.

2 Peter 3:3 reminds us that in the last days, there will be scoffers, people who mock God’s promises and follow their own desires. Their doubt doesn’t disprove God’s Word; in fact, it fulfills it. As believers, we are called to stand firm in our faith, trusting that God’s promises are true and that His timing is perfect. When faced with ridicule, we can respond with grace, knowing that God is faithful.

Heavenly Father, Thank You for Your Word, which prepares us to face doubt and mockery with confidence. For the reader who feels overwhelmed by the scoffing of others, I pray that You strengthen their faith. Remind them that Your promises are true, and Your timing is perfect. Help them to respond to doubt with grace and to stand firm in the hope You’ve given them. Thank You for being faithful, even when the world doubts. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Let this story and prayer encourage you: If you feel surrounded by doubt, ridicule, or mockery for your faith, take heart, you’re not alone. God’s Word has already prepared you for this, and His promises are unshakable. Don’t let the scoffing of the world shake your confidence in Him. Stand firm, trust in His timing, and know that His truth will always prevail. Keep the faith, you’re anchored in something eternal.
