Afi sat in her car, parked outside the hospital, clutching her steering wheel as tears streamed down her face. The last few months had been a whirlwind of heartbreak. Her father had battled cancer for years, and now, the fight was over. Her family had prayed for a miracle, but the answer hadn’t come in the way they had hoped. Afi felt crushed, her heart heavy with grief and unanswered questions.

“How am I supposed to move forward?” she whispered through her tears. The weight of loss felt unbearable, and the thought of facing life without her father seemed impossible. Afi had always believed in God, but in this moment, she struggled to reconcile her faith with her pain.

That evening, Afi opened her Bible, desperate for comfort. She turned to the book of Revelation and read Revelation 21:4,
“‘He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death’ or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.”

As she read those words, Afi felt a glimmer of hope. God wasn’t blind to her pain. He saw her tears, and He had promised a day when there would be no more pain, no more death, and no more sorrow. She realized that while the grief she felt now was very real, it wasn’t the end of the story. God had a plan to restore all things, to heal every wound, and to make all things new.

Afi closed her eyes and prayed, “Lord, I don’t understand why this happened, but I trust that You see my pain. Thank You for the promise that one day, You will wipe away every tear. Help me to hold on to that hope, even in the midst of my sorrow. Give me the strength to walk through this season, knowing that You are with me.”

From that day forward, Afi clung to the promise of Revelation 21:4. Her grief didn’t disappear overnight, but she began to find comfort in the truth that God was with her in her pain and that He had a future planned where suffering would be no more. The hope of eternity gave her the strength to take one step at a time, trusting that God’s love would carry her through.

Revelation 21:4 reminds us of the incredible hope we have in God’s promise to restore all things. In this life, we experience pain, loss, and heartache, but these things are temporary. God promises a future where He will wipe away every tear, and death, mourning, and pain will no longer exist. This hope doesn’t erase our current struggles, but it gives us the strength to endure, knowing that God is faithful and His promises are true.

Heavenly Father, Thank You for the hope You give us in Revelation 21:4. For the reader who is grieving, hurting, or feeling overwhelmed by life’s pain, I pray that You remind them of Your promise to wipe away every tear. Comfort them in their sorrow, and help them to hold on to the hope of eternity, where there will be no more death or pain. Walk with them through this season, Lord, and remind them that You are near to the broken-hearted. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Let this story and prayer encourage you, If you’re walking through a season of grief or pain, know that God sees your tears and holds your heart. His promise of restoration is sure, and the pain you feel today will not last forever. Hold on to the hope of eternity, where every sorrow will be replaced with joy, every tear with peace, and every loss with restoration. God is faithful, and His love will carry you through.
