In a quiet town nestled between rolling hills, there lived a man named Jake. He had once been a respected pastor, known for his passionate sermons and compassionate heart. But a series of poor choices had led to a public scandal and Jake had stepped down from his role, retreating into isolation.
For years, Jake carried the weight of his mistakes. He avoided church, fearing judgement and rejection. He spent his days working odd jobs and his nights wrestling with guilt. “How could I ever face God again?” he often wondered, his heart heavy with shame.
One Sunday morning, Jake found himself standing outside a local church on the edge of Grange Farm. The doors were open, and the sound of prayer and worship music drifted into the street. Something stirred within him, and he stepped inside, slipping into a back seat.
The lady pastor Lisa spoke about Hebrews 10:19: “Therefore, brothers and sisters, since we have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus…” She explained that because of Christ’s sacrifice, we can approach God with boldness, no matter our past.
“God’s grace is greater than our guilt,” the young beautiful lady pastor said. “Through Jesus, we can begin again.”
Jake felt tears stream down his face. For the first time in years, he dared to hope that God hadn’t given up on him.
After the service, Jake approached the lady pastor and shared his story. To his surprise, the lady pastor listened without judgement and encouraged him to seek God’s forgiveness. “You don’t have to carry this burden anymore,” she said. “Jesus has already paid the price.”
That night, Jake knelt by his bed and prayed, pouring out his heart to God. He confessed his mistakes and asked for forgiveness. As he prayed, a sense of peace washed over him, as if a heavy weight had been lifted.
Jake began attending church at the Singleton Drive, Grange Farm regularly, slowly rebuilding his relationship with God. He joined a small group where he found support and encouragement. Over time, he started sharing his story, not to justify his actions but to testify to God’s grace.
One day, LP Lisa asked Jake to share his testimony during a service. Nervous but hopeful, Jake stood before the congregation and spoke about his journey, his failures, his shame and the moment he rediscovered God’s grace.
“I thought I was too far gone,” he said, his voice trembling. “But God reminded me that through Jesus, I can approach Him with confidence. His mercy is new every morning.”
The congregation responded with tears and applause. Many approached Jake afterwards, sharing their own struggles and thanking him for his honesty.
Years later, Jake stood in the same church, now serving as a counsellor for those struggling with guilt and shame. He often shared Hebrews 10:19 with those he counselled, reminding them that through Christ, they could approach God with confidence.
One evening, as he prepared to lead a support group, Jake opened his Bible to Hebrews 10:19 and read aloud: “Therefore, brothers and sisters, since we have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus…”
“Thank You, Lord,” he whispered. “You’ve shown me that Your grace is greater than my guilt, and Your love is stronger than my shame.”
Through Christ, we can approach God with confidence, no matter our past. His grace covers our guilt, and His love restores our hope. As Hebrews 10:19 reminds us, we can boldly enter God’s presence because of Jesus’ sacrifice.
Heavenly Father, I lift up the reader to You today, grateful for the confidence they have through Christ to approach Your throne of grace. When shame and guilt weigh them down, remind them of Your forgiveness and love. Help them to live boldly, knowing that Your mercy is new every morning. Thank You for restoring their hope and giving them a fresh start. In Jesus Name, Amen.
