In a bustling city filled with noise and endless activity, there lived a young man named Daniel. Daniel worked long hours at a demanding job, striving to make ends meet for his family. Though he was hardworking and honest, life often felt overwhelming, and anxiety followed him wherever he went.

One evening, as a storm rolled in and rain tapped against his apartment window, Daniel opened his Bible in search of peace. His eyes landed on Psalm 5:12:

“Surely, Lord, You bless the righteous; You surround them with Your favour as with a shield.”

The words seemed to leap off the page. Daniel sat back and whispered, “Lord, I need Your favour. I need Your protection. Please surround me like a shield and guide my every step.”

From that moment, Daniel began to pray Psalm 5:12 every morning before heading to work. Though his circumstances didn’t change overnight, he started to notice small but significant signs of God’s favour in his life.

One day, Daniel narrowly avoided a car accident on his way to work. Shaken but unharmed, he whispered a prayer of gratitude: “Thank You, Lord, for protecting me.”

Another time, his manager unexpectedly praised him in front of the entire team, leading to a promotion he hadn’t even applied for. Daniel smiled to himself, remembering the verse he had prayed earlier that morning: “You surround them with Your favour as with a shield.”

As Daniel continued to trust in the Lord, he found himself relying less on his own strength and more on God’s guidance. He began to make decisions with prayer and faith, asking God to direct his steps.

One evening, Daniel felt a strong prompting to call a friend he hadn’t spoken to in years. To his surprise, the friend was going through a difficult time and desperately needed encouragement. Through their conversation, Daniel realised that God had used him to bring hope to someone who was struggling.

It became clear to Daniel that the favour of the Lord wasn’t just about protection or material blessings, it was also about being guided to walk in God’s purpose and to bless others along the way.

Years later, Daniel often shared his story with others who felt overwhelmed by life’s challenges. He would remind them of the promise in Psalm 5:12:

“Surely, Lord, You bless the righteous; You surround them with Your favour as with a shield.”

“The favour of the Lord is real,” Daniel would say. “It’s not just about avoiding harm or receiving blessings, it’s about walking closely with Him, knowing that He is protecting you, guiding you, and working all things for your good.”

May the favour of the Lord surround you like a shield, protecting you from harm and guiding your steps. May you walk in confidence, knowing that His blessings are upon you and that His guidance will lead you into His perfect will.

“The Lord makes firm the steps of the one who delights in Him; though he may stumble, he will not fall, for the Lord upholds him with His hand.” Psalm 37:23-24

Heavenly Father, thank You for Your promise to surround me with favour like a shield. I trust You to protect me from harm and to guide my steps each day. Help me to walk in righteousness and to rely on Your strength, not my own. May Your favour lead me into Your plans and purposes, and may my life reflect Your goodness and grace. Amen.
