In the quiet village of Milton Keynes, there lived a merchant named Thomas. Thomas was known for his honesty and hard work, but he often struggled with making decisions. Whether it was a business deal, a family matter, or a personal choice, he often found himself paralysed by doubt, wondering if he was doing the right thing.
One evening, as Thomas sat by the fire, feeling the weight of another difficult decision, he opened his Bible and read from Proverbs 2:6:
“For the Lord gives wisdom; from His mouth come knowledge and understanding.”
The verse gave him comfort and clarity. Thomas realised that he didn’t have to figure everything out on his own, God was the source of all wisdom, and if he sought the Lord, He would guide him. That night, Thomas prayed, “Lord, grant me wisdom and understanding. Help me to make wise decisions and walk in Your ways.”
From that day on, Thomas decided to bring every decision, big or small, before the Lord. Each morning, he prayed for wisdom and read God’s Word, trusting that the Lord would guide his steps.
One day, a wealthy businessman visited Thomas with an enticing offer. The man proposed a deal that promised great profit, but something about it didn’t feel right to Thomas. Instead of rushing into the agreement, Thomas sought the Lord in prayer. As he spent time in quiet reflection, he felt a nudge in his spirit warning him to walk away.
Though it was hard to turn down the offer, Thomas obeyed. A few weeks later, news spread that the businessman had been involved in dishonest practices, leaving others in financial ruin. Thomas realised that God’s wisdom had protected him from harm.
As Thomas continued to seek the Lord, he found that his decisions became clearer, and his path more certain. Whether it was guiding his children, managing his business, or helping a neighbor in need, Thomas relied on the wisdom and understanding that came from God.
One evening, as he stood by the window of his home, watching the sun set over the fields, Thomas whispered, “Thank You, Lord, for Your wisdom. You are the lamp to my feet and the light to my path. Help me to always walk in Your ways.”
May the Lord grant you wisdom and understanding to make wise decisions and walk in His ways. May He guide your steps, protect you from harm, and lead you down paths of righteousness and peace.
“If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.” James 1:5
May you seek the Lord in every decision, trusting that He will provide the clarity, knowledge, and understanding you need to walk confidently in His will.
Heavenly Father, I lift up the reader to you today, thank You for being the source of all wisdom and understanding. I ask for Your guidance in their decisions, both big and small. Help them to walk in Your ways and to trust in Your plans for their life. Grant them discernment to know what is right and the courage to follow Your path, even when it’s difficult. May Your wisdom fill their heart and mind and may their decisions glorify You. In Jesus Name, Amen
