In the lively town of Stacey Bushes, there was a young teacher named Lisa M. She loved her students and worked hard every day to help them learn and grow. But Lisa had a habit she wasn’t proud of, when she was stressed or frustrated, her words became sharp and impatient. Though she cared deeply for her students, her tone sometimes left them discouraged, and she could see it in their eyes.
One evening, after a particularly difficult day, Lisa opened her Bible in search of guidance. Her eyes landed on Proverbs 16:24:
“Gracious words are a honeycomb, sweet to the soul and healing to the bones.”
The verse stirred something in her heart. She realised the power of her words, they could either build someone up or tear them down. That night, she prayed, “Lord, help my words to be seasoned with grace and truth. Let them bring life and blessings to those around me, especially my students.”
The next day, Lisa walked into her classroom with a new resolve. Before speaking, she paused to consider how her words could encourage rather than discourage. When a student made a mistake, instead of snapping, she gently explained how to correct it. When another struggled to understand a lesson, she offered reassuring words that lifted their spirits.
To her surprise, she noticed an immediate change, not just in her students but in herself. The more she spoke with grace, the more peace and joy she felt in her heart. Her classroom became a place of encouragement and growth, where her students blossomed under her kind and truthful words.
One day, a parent approached Lisa with tears in her eyes. “I don’t know what you’ve been saying to my son,” she said, “but he’s been coming home with a smile on his face, full of confidence. Thank you for believing in him and speaking life into him.”
Lisa’s heart swelled with gratitude. She realised that her words, seasoned with grace and truth, were becoming a source of healing and blessing, not just for her students but for their families as well.
That evening, Lisa sat by her window, watching the sunset, and whispered, “Thank You, Lord, for teaching me the power of words. May everything I say reflect Your love and truth, bringing life to those around me.”
May your words be seasoned with grace and truth, bringing life and blessings to those around you. May they be a source of encouragement, healing, and love, reflecting the heart of God in every conversation.
“Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.” Ephesians 4:29
May the Lord guide your speech, helping you to speak with kindness, wisdom, and truth, so that your words become a sweet honeycomb to everyone you encounter.
Heavenly Father, I lift up the reader to you today, thank You for the gift of speech and the ability to share Your love through their words. Help them to speak with grace, kindness and truth in every situation. Let their words bring healing, encouragement and blessings to those around them. Guard their tongue from negativity or harm and fill their heart with Your love so that it overflows into their conversations. May their words reflect Your grace and bring glory to Your name. In Jesus Name, Amen.
