In a bustling city of Milton Keynes, there lived a woman named Gladys. Gladys was in her mid-30s, a single mother to her 10-year-old son, Kwabena. Gladys worked as a nurse at the local hospital, often pulling double shifts to make ends meet. Life had not been easy for Gladys, she had faced her share of hardships, including a difficult divorce and the loss of her parents in a car accident. But through it all, she held onto her faith, though it often felt like she was clinging to it by a thread.

Gladys’s best friend, Lisa, was a vibrant woman with a deep faith and a passion for music. Lisa often encouraged Gladys to lean on God during tough times. “He’s your salvation, Gladys,” Lisa would say. “He’s the one who carries you through.” But Gladys struggled to see it. “I pray, but it feels like my prayers just hit the ceiling,” she’d reply.

One evening, after a particularly grueling shift at the hospital, Gladys came home to find Kwabena waiting for her with a handmade card. On the front, he had drawn a cross and written, “Mom, God loves you.” Inside, he had written, “Thank you for always taking care of me. You’re my hero.” Gladys felt tears well up in her eyes. She hugged Kwabena tightly and whispered, “Thank you, sweetheart. You’re my hero too.”

That night, as Gladys sat in her quiet living room, she opened her Bible and read Psalm 118:21: “I will praise You, for You have answered me, and have become my salvation.” The words struck her deeply. She realized that even in her darkest moments, God had been there, answering her prayers in ways she hadn’t always recognized. He had provided for her and Kwabena, protected them, and given her the strength to keep going.

The next day, Gladys shared her thoughts with Lisa. “I think I’ve been so focused on what’s wrong that I haven’t seen what’s right,” she said. “God has been with us all along. He’s our salvation.”

Lisa smiled. “That’s the spirit! Let’s praise Him for all He’s done.”

Gladys began to make a habit of thanking God daily, even for the small things, a kind word from a co-worker, a beautiful sunset, or a moment of peace after a long day. She also started attending a Bible study at Lisa’s church in Stacey Bushes Meeting Place every Sunday 10:30am, where she found a community of women who encouraged and supported her.

One evening, the Bible study group decided to put on a small concert to raise money for a local family in need. Lisa, who was a talented singer, asked Gladys to share her story. Gladys was nervous but agreed. She stood before the small crowd and spoke about her struggles and how God had been her salvation through it all. “I used to think my prayers weren’t being answered,” she said, “but now I see that God was with me every step of the way. He’s my salvation, and I will praise Him for it.”

As Gladys spoke, Lisa began to sing a song of praise, and soon the entire room joined in. Gladys felt a sense of peace and joy she hadn’t known in years. She realized that her story, though filled with pain, was also a testament to God’s faithfulness.

Years later, as Gladys stood in her kitchen, watching Kwabena, now a confident teenager help a younger child with their homework, she felt a deep sense of gratitude. She remembered the words of Psalm 118:21 and whispered, “Thank You, Lord, for being my salvation.”

God is our salvation, and He answers our prayers in ways we may not always recognize. By praising Him and acknowledging His hand in our lives, we can find peace and joy, even in the midst of challenges.

Heavenly Father, thank You for being our salvation and for answering our prayers, even when we don’t always recognize it. Help us to see Your hand in every aspect of our lives and to praise You for Your faithfulness. Teach us to trust in Your deliverance and to share our stories of Your goodness with others. May our lives be a testament to Your love and grace. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
