In a quiet village, there lived a man named Kobby. He had once been a respected leader, known for his wisdom and generosity. But a series of poor decisions had led to a scandal, and Kobby had lost everything—his reputation, his position, and the trust of those he loved.

For years, Kobby carried the weight of his mistakes. He lived in isolation, working as a labourer and avoiding the judgemental eyes of his former friends. “I don’t deserve forgiveness,” he often thought. “I’ve ruined everything.”

One evening, as Kobby sat by the river, an old friend named Miriam approached him. She had heard about his struggles and wanted to offer encouragement. “Kobby,”  she said gently, “do you remember the story of Jacob? He wrestled with God and said, ‘I am unworthy of all the kindness and faithfulness You have shown me.’ Yet God blessed him and gave him a new beginning.”

Kobby nodded, recalling the story from Genesis 32:10“But how does that help me?” he asked.

Miriam smiled. “God’s grace is greater than your guilt. He can restore what’s been broken, but you have to let go of the past and trust Him.”

Kobby decided to take a step of faith. He began attending a small church in Stacey Bushes every 10:30am at the Meeting Place, where he found a community of people who welcomed him without judgement. He also started volunteering at a local shelter, serving meals to those in need.

At first, it was hard. Kobby struggled with feelings of unworthiness, but he clung to the promise of God’s grace. “I am unworthy,” he prayed, “but I trust in Your kindness and faithfulness.”

One day, as Kobby was serving at the shelter, a young boy approached him. “Thank you for the food,” the boy said. “You’re really kind.”

Kobby’s heart melted. For the first time in years, he felt a sense of purpose. “Thank You, Lord,” he whispered. “For showing me that I can still make a difference.”

Word of Kobby’s service spread, and soon, others began to see him in a new light. The community forgave him, and he was invited to lead a project to rebuild the village’s community center.

Years later, Kobby stood in the newly rebuilt community center, surrounded by friends and neighbours. He had become a symbol of redemption and grace, a living testament to God’s faithfulness.

One evening, as he prepared to speak at a gathering, Kobby opened his Bible to Genesis 32:10 and read aloud: “I am unworthy of all the kindness and faithfulness You have shown me.”

“Thank You, Lord,” he whispered. “For Your grace, Your forgiveness, and Your faithfulness. You’ve shown me that no one is beyond Your love.”

No matter how unworthy we feel, God’s grace is greater than our guilt. When we humble ourselves and trust in His faithfulness, He can restore what’s been broken and give us a new beginning. As Genesis 32:10 reminds us, God’s kindness and faithfulness are gifts we don’t deserve but can always rely on.

“Heavenly Father, I come to You today, humbled by Your kindness and faithfulness. When I feel unworthy, remind me of Your grace and love. Help me to trust in Your promises and to walk in gratitude for all You have done. Thank You for restoring my hope and giving me a new beginning. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”
