In a small, struggling town, there stood an old, crumbling church. It had once been the heart of the community, a place of worship, fellowship, and hope. But over the years, the congregation had dwindled, and the building had fallen into disrepair.
Elderly members of the church, like Mr. Thompson, remembered its former glory. “This church used to be filled with life,” he often said, his voice tinged with sadness. “Now it’s just a shadow of what it once was.”
One Sunday, a young lady pastor named Lisa M arrived in the town. She had been sent to revive and to lead the small congregation, and her heart ached as she saw the state of the church. But she also felt a stirring of hope.
During her first sermon, the lady pastor spoke about Haggai 2:9: “The glory of this present house will be greater than the glory of the former house.” She reminded the congregation that God’s promises are not limited by our circumstances.
“God is not done with this church,” Lisa said. “He has greater things in store for us. Let’s trust Him and take the first step.”
Lisa and the congregation began with small acts of faith. They cleaned the church, repaired the roof, and repainted the walls. It wasn’t much, but it was a start.
As they worked, the lady pastor encouraged the congregation to pray for God’s guidance and provision. “This isn’t just about fixing a building,” she said. “It’s about rebuilding our faith and trusting God to do something new.”
Word of the church’s efforts spread, and soon, people from the community began to pitch in. A local carpenter offered to rebuild the stage, a musician volunteered to lead worship, and a group of teenagers organised a fundraiser to purchase the sound systems and instrumentals.
The church began to come alive again. Sunday services were filled with joy and hope, and the congregation grew as more people were drawn to the sense of community and faith and the sound of worship every sunday morning at the Stacey Bushes Meeting Place.
One evening, as Lisa stood in the newly renovated sanctuary, she felt a deep sense of gratitude. “Thank You, Lord,” she whispered. “You’ve shown us that Your glory is greater than we could have imagined.”
Years later, the church had become a beacon of hope in the town. It was no longer just a building—it was a place where lives were transformed, where the broken found healing, and where the community came together in love and faith.
One Sunday, as LP Lisa prepared to preach, she opened her Bible to Haggai 2:9 and read aloud: “The glory of this present house will be greater than the glory of the former house.”
“Thank You, Lord,” she prayed. “You’ve shown us that Your promises are true, and Your glory is greater than we could have imagined.”
God’s promises are not limited by our circumstances. When we trust Him and take steps of faith, He can bring greater glory out of what seems broken and forgotten. As Haggai 2:9 reminds us, the glory of the present house will be greater than the glory of the former.
“Heavenly Father, I come to You today, trusting in Your promises. When my circumstances feel overwhelming, remind me that You are doing greater things. Help me to take steps of faith, knowing that Your glory will fill my life and Your kingdom. Thank You for showing me that the best is yet to come. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”
