Kwaku sat alone in his dimly lit living room, the silence of the house pressing heavily on his chest. The clock on the wall ticked loudly, each second a reminder of the time slipping away, time he felt he was wasting, unable to fix the chaos around him. His teenage son, Ethan, had just stormed off to his room after another argument about his failing grades. Mabel, his wife, lay in bed, her frail body weakened by the chronic illness that had stolen her energy and joy.

Kwaku stared at the pile of medical bills on the coffee table, their numbers blurring as tears filled his eyes. “God, I don’t know what to do,” he whispered, his voice breaking. “I’m trying so hard, but it’s not enough. I’m failing them. I’m failing You. Please, show me the way.”

The weight of his responsibilities felt unbearable. He had always been the problem-solver, the one who fixed things. But now, no matter how hard he worked or how many hours he spent researching solutions, nothing seemed to change.

The next morning, Kwaku woke up early, his mind still heavy with worry. He wandered into the study, a room he rarely entered, and noticed an old Bible tucked away on a shelf. Dusting it off, he flipped through its pages, his fingers trembling. A verse caught his eye: Jeremiah 33:3 “Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things which you do not know.”

The words felt like a lifeline, a gentle whisper in the midst of his despair. Kwaku realised he had been trying to handle everything on his own, forgetting to call out to God for help. He sank to his knees, clutching the Bible to his chest. “God, I’ve been so focused on fixing things myself. I’m sorry. I need You. Please, show me what to do.”

Kwaku decided to make prayer a priority. Each morning, before the house stirred, he would sit in the quiet of the living room, pouring out his heart to God. He prayed for wisdom at work, healing for Mabel, and guidance for Ethan. He prayed for strength to keep going, for patience to love his family well, and for faith to trust God’s plan.

At first, nothing seemed to change. Ethan’s grades didn’t improve, Mabel’s health remained fragile, and work was as demanding as ever. But Kwaku held onto the promise of Jeremiah 33:3, trusting that God was working behind the scenes.

One morning, as Kwaku prayed, an idea came to him: “What if I reached out to Ethan’s school counsellor for help?” He followed through, and the counsellor connected Ethan with a tutor who specialised in helping struggling students. It was a small step, but it felt like a glimmer of hope.

A few weeks later, Kwaku received a call from his boss. The company was offering him a promotion with a more flexible schedule, allowing him to spend more time with his family. Kwaku was overwhelmed with gratitude. “Thank You, Lord,” he whispered, tears filling his eyes.

But the miracles didn’t stop there. Mabel’s doctor recommended a new treatment plan that significantly improved her symptoms. For the first time in months, she was able to join the family for dinner, her smile brighter than Kwaku had seen in years.

Ethan’s grades began to rise, and his confidence grew. One evening, as Kwaku helped him with his homework, Ethan looked up and said, “Dad, I think I’m starting to get it. Thanks for not giving up on me.” Kwaku heart swelled with pride and gratitude.

Months later, Kwaku stood in his backyard, watching Ethan play with the dog. Mabel joined him, her hand slipping into his. “God has been so good to us,” she said, her voice steady and strong.

Kwaku nodded, his heart full. He opened his Bible to Jeremiah 33:3 and read aloud: “Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things which you do not know.”

“Thank You, Lord,” he prayed. “You’ve shown me that when I call to You, You answer in ways I could never have imagined. You’ve turned my desperation into hope, my weakness into strength, and my fear into faith.”

When we call out to God in faith, He answers in ways that exceed our expectations. He reveals great and mighty things we could never have imagined, reminding us of His power and love. As Jeremiah 33:3 reminds us, “Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things which you do not know.”

Heavenly Father, I lift up the reader to You today, calling out for Your guidance and help. When life feels overwhelming, remind them to turn to You in prayer, trusting that You will answer. Show them great and mighty things that they do not know and fill their life with Your wonder and hope. Thank You for being a God who hears and answers when they call. In Jesus Name, Amen.
