In a bustling Milton Keynes city filled with noise and chaos, there lived a woman named Stella. She was a single mother working two jobs to provide for her young daughter, Akos. Despite her tireless efforts, Stella often felt overwhelmed by the weight of her responsibilities. Bills piled up and the future seemed uncertain. She prayed for a breakthrough, but as the days turned into months, her hope began to fade.

One evening, after putting Akos to bed, Stella sat alone in her small apartment, tears streaming down her face. She felt vulnerable, as if the world was closing in on her. Just then, her phone buzzed, a message from her elderly neighbour, Mrs. Maggie, who had always been a source of wisdom and encouragement. “Come over for a cup of tea, dear,” the message read. “You look like you could use a friend.”

Stella hesitated but eventually made her way next door. Mrs. Maggie welcomed her with a warm smile and a steaming cup of tea. As Stella shared her struggles, Mrs. Maggie listened intently, her eyes filled with compassion. “Stella,” she said gently, “I want to remind you of something. In the Bible, Numbers 23:19 says, ‘God is not a man, that He should lie, nor a son of man, that He should change His mind. Does He speak and then not act? Does He promise and not fulfil?’ God’s promises are unshakable, my dear. He sees your struggles and He will never abandon you.”

Stella felt a wave of comfort wash over her. Mrs. Maggie’s words reminded her that God’s faithfulness was not dependent on her circumstances. She decided to hold onto that truth, even when everything around her felt uncertain.

The next morning, Stella woke up with a renewed sense of hope. She began to pray with confidence, trusting that God would provide. A few weeks later, an unexpected opportunity arose—a better-paying job with flexible hours that allowed her to spend more time with Akos. Slowly but surely, Stella’s life began to change. Bills were paid, stress eased and she even started saving for Akos’s future.

Years later, Stella stood in her new home, watching Akos play in the backyard. She thought back to that difficult season and the words Mrs. Maggie had shared. “Thank You, Lord,” she whispered. “You are faithful, and Your promises never fail. You turned my fear into faith and my despair into hope.”

Heavenly Father I lift up the reader to YOU today, asking that they may find deep and abiding peace in Your unchanging nature, for You are the same yesterday, today and forever (Hebrews 13:8) and not one of Your good promises has ever failed (Joshua 21:45). Let Your faithfulness be the anchor of their soul, firm and secure amid every storm (Hebrews 6:19) and remind them that great is Your faithfulness, new every morning (Lamentations 3:22–23). May Your truth guide their steps as a lamp to their feet and a light to their path (Psalm 119:105) and may Your steadfast love surround them continually (Psalm 32:10), assuring them that nothing can separate them from the love of Christ (Romans 8:38–39). In every season, whether in joy or trial, be their constant peace, their sure foundation, and their everlasting comfort, in Jesus Name, Amen.
