In the bustling city of Milton Keynes, there lived a young lady named Lisa M. Lisa was an incredibly talented pianist. From the time she was a girl, she could make music that moved people to tears. She loved playing the piano, but she often wondered if her gift truly mattered.
“It’s just music,” she would say to herself. “How can it make a difference in the world?”
Lisa worked at a small music school, teaching children how to play the piano. While she loved her students, she secretly longed to do more with her talent. One Sunday, as she sat in church at Stacey Bushes Meeting Place, the lady pastor spoke about using our God-given gifts. She read from 1 Peter 4:10:
“Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.”
The verse pierced Lisa’s heart. She realized that her musical talent wasn’t just for her own enjoyment—it was a gift from God, meant to be used to bless others and glorify Him.
That evening, Lisa prayed, “Lord, I want to use my gift for You. Show me how I can serve others with the talent You’ve given me. Help me to use it for Your glory.”
The very next week, Lisa received a surprise invitation. A local hospital was looking for musicians to play for patients in their recovery ward. Lisa hesitated at first, unsure of what to expect, but she remembered her prayer and decided to say yes.
On her first visit to the hospital, Lisa M wheeled her keyboard into a quiet room where a few patients were gathered. She began to play softly, pouring her heart into each note. To her amazement, the atmosphere in the room shifted. Faces softened, tears flowed, and even patients who couldn’t speak nodded along to the music with smiles.
As Lisa finished, an elderly woman approached her. “Young lady,” she said, her voice trembling, “your music reminded me that God is still with me, even in my pain. Thank you for bringing me hope today.”
Lisa left the hospital that day with a renewed sense of purpose. She realized that her gift wasn’t “just music” it was a tool God could use to touch hearts and bring healing.
Inspired by the experience, Lisa began volunteering regularly at the hospital. She also started visiting nursing homes, community centers, and even prisons, sharing her music with anyone who would listen. Each time she played, she prayed that God would use her gift to bless others.
Over time, Lisa’s music became more than just notes and melodies, it became a testimony of God’s love and grace. People who heard her play often shared how the music reminded them of God’s presence, comforted them in their struggles, or inspired them to hope again.
One day, a young boy named Kwaku approached Lisa after a performance at a children’s hospital. Kwaku had been undergoing treatment for a serious illness, and his spirits were low. But after hearing Lisa play, he smiled for the first time in weeks. “Thank you,” Kwaku said. “Your music makes me feel brave.”
Lisa knelt down and said, “That’s not just my music, it’s God working through it. He’s the one who makes us brave.”
As Lisa continued to use her talent, God opened more doors for her. She was invited to play at church services, community events, and even conferences. But no matter how big or small the audience, Lisa never forgot why she played: to glorify God and bless others.
One evening, as Lisa reflected on her journey, she opened her Bible to 1 Peter 4:10 and read it again:
“Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.”
She whispered a prayer: “Thank You, Lord, for this gift. Help me to always use it for Your glory. May it continue to bless others and point them back to You.”
Lisa’s story reminds us that our talents and gifts, no matter how big or small they may seem, are given to us for a purpose. When we offer them back to God, He can use them in mighty ways to bless others and bring glory to His name.

Heavenly Father I lift up the reader to YOU today, asking that You would bless the talents and gifts You have so lovingly placed within them; breathe upon every ability, every skill, and every calling, that all may be used for Your glory and the advancement of Your Kingdom (1 Peter 4:10–11). Let their gifts make room for them and bring them before great opportunities (Proverbs 18:16), and may they shine as a light that points others to You (Matthew 5:16). Anoint the work of their hands and establish it according to Your perfect will (Psalm 90:17), causing their fruit to remain and impact lives in a mighty way (John 15:8). Guard their heart in humility, reminding them that every good and perfect gift comes from You (James 1:17), and let their life be a living offering of praise, blessing many and glorifying Your holy name, In Jesus Name, Amen.
