Akua always felt like she didn’t belong in church. She had made mistakes, big ones. Her past was filled with things she wasn’t proud of: broken relationships, poor choices, and regrets that weighed heavily on her heart. Every time she thought about stepping into a church, she convinced herself it wasn’t for her. “Church is for good people,” she thought. “Not someone like me.”

One day, while scrolling through her phone, Akua came across a Bible verse someone had shared online. It was Mark 2:17:
“On hearing this, Jesus said to them, ‘It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.’”

Tears welled up in Akua’s eyes as she read the words. For so long, she had believed the lie that she wasn’t good enough for God. But this verse turned that idea upside down. Jesus didn’t come for people who had it all together, He came for people like her, the broken, the hurting, and the ones who felt unworthy. He wasn’t waiting for her to fix herself or clean up her life; He was inviting her to come to Him just as she was.

For the first time in years, Akua prayed: “Jesus, I don’t know if I can ever be good enough, but Your Word says You came for people like me. I’m tired of carrying my guilt and shame. Please forgive me and help me to follow You. Thank You for loving me even when I feel unlovable.”

Akua started attending a church that had just moved to her local in Grange Farm, 24 Sheraton Drive, where she found a community of people who welcomed her with open arms. She began to read the Bible and learn more about Jesus, and with each passing day, she felt His love and grace healing the wounds of her past. She discovered that her worth wasn’t based on her mistakes but on the fact that she was loved and redeemed by God. Her life began to change as she embraced the truth that Jesus had come not to condemn her, but to heal her and give her new life.

Mark 2:17 reminds us that Jesus came for those who recognize their need for Him. He isn’t looking for perfection, He’s looking for hearts willing to turn to Him. No matter how broken or unworthy we may feel, Jesus invites us to come to Him just as we are. He is the Great Physician, ready to heal, restore, and redeem those who trust in Him. His grace is greater than any mistake or failure.

Heavenly Father, Thank You for sending Jesus to save not the righteous, but sinners like us. For the reader who feels unworthy or burdened by their past, I pray that You remind them of Your love and grace. Help them to see that Jesus came for them and that they don’t have to carry their guilt or shame any longer. Heal their heart, guide their steps, and show them the joy of walking in Your forgiveness and love. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Let this story and prayer encourage you: If you’ve ever felt like you’re not good enough for God, remember that Jesus came for people just like you. He doesn’t ask you to fix yourself before coming to Him, He asks you to come as you are and let Him do the healing. His love and grace are greater than any mistake you’ve made. Trust Him with your heart today, and let Him show you the beauty of His forgiveness and redemption.
