Kwesi had grown up hearing all about God’s faithfulness. His parents often told him stories of how God had provided for their family in tough times, and his church frequently reminded him of God’s miracles in the Bible. But as Kwesi grew older, he found himself struggling to trust God. Life hadn’t turned out the way he expected, his career had stalled, his relationships were strained, and he couldn’t understand why God seemed so distant.

One evening, feeling frustrated and disconnected, Kwesi turned to the Psalms for comfort. He came across Psalm 78:56:
“But they put God to the test and rebelled against the Most High; they did not keep His statutes.”

The verse spoke about how the Israelites, despite all the miracles God had done for them, still doubted Him and chose their own way. Kwesi felt a pang of conviction. He realized that just like the Israelites, he had been testing God. Instead of trusting in God’s plan, he had let his frustration and impatience lead him to doubt and disobedience. He had been so focused on what he thought God wasn’t doing that he had stopped obeying and seeking God wholeheartedly.

Kwesi knelt and prayed, “Lord, forgive me for doubting You and for going my own way. I don’t want to test You with my lack of trust. Help me to obey You, even when I don’t understand what You’re doing. Remind me of all the ways You’ve been faithful in the past, and give me the faith to trust You with my future.”

From that moment, Kwesi decided to change his perspective. He began to keep a journal, writing down all the ways God had been faithful in his life, big and small. He made a commitment to obey God’s Word, even when it was hard or when he didn’t see immediate results. As he walked in obedience, Kwesi’s faith grew stronger, and he began to see God working in ways he hadn’t noticed before. Over time, his trust in God deepened, and though his circumstances didn’t change overnight, his heart was filled with peace.

Psalm 78:56 is a reminder of how easy it is to forget God’s faithfulness and turn to doubt or rebellion when life gets hard. The Israelites had seen God’s miracles, yet they still tested Him by choosing their own way. Their story reminds us to trust God, even when we don’t see immediate answers, and to obey His Word as an act of faith. When we remember His faithfulness and walk in obedience, we find peace and strength to face life’s challenges.

Heavenly Father, Thank You for being faithful, even when we doubt. For the reader who feels frustrated, impatient, or disconnected, I pray that You remind them of Your faithfulness. Help them to trust You, even when answers aren’t clear, and give them the strength to walk in obedience. Teach them to lean on You and remember that Your plans are always for their good.
