Jojo sat on the edge of his bed, his shoulders hunched under the weight of worry. Bills were piling up on the kitchen counter, his job felt like a dead end, and his strained relationship with his teenage son, Caleb, was getting worse by the day.
He felt trapped burdened by responsibilities and battles he didn’t feel equipped to fight. Though he believed in God, Jojo couldn’t help but wonder if He was truly listening.
That evening, Jojo opened his Bible, desperate for answers. His eyes fell on a verse in Isaiah:
“It shall come to pass in that day that his burden will be taken away from your shoulder, and his yoke from your neck, and the yoke will be destroyed because of the anointing.” Isaiah 10:27
Jojo paused, reading the verse again. The word “yoke” stood out to him. He thought of the wooden yoke used to bind oxen together, forcing them to carry a heavy load. That’s exactly how he felt bound and weighed down. But the promise in Isaiah was clear: the yoke will be destroyed because of the anointing.
Jojo began to pray, asking God to help him understand the verse. As he reflected, he realised that the burdens he was carrying financial stress, family conflict, and feelings of inadequacy were like a yoke around his neck. They were crushing him, making him feel powerless and stuck.

The next morning, Jojo woke up early and went for a walk. As he strolled through the quiet streets, he began to talk to God aloud.
“Lord, I can’t do this on my own anymore. I’m tired of trying to carry all this weight by myself. Your Word says You can destroy the yoke, so I’m giving it all to You, my worries, my fears, my struggles. Please help me, Lord.”
As he spoke, Jojo felt a strange sense of peace. The burdens didn’t disappear instantly, but he no longer felt alone. He realized that surrendering to God didn’t mean ignoring his problems; it meant trusting that God would help him carry them.
