Afua sat on the park bench, her notebook open but untouched. She was supposed to be brainstorming ideas for her art project, but her thoughts were clouded by anxiety.

Lately, everything in her life felt overwhelming. Her finances were tight, her relationships were strained, and she felt invisible at work. She couldn’t shake the feeling that she didn’t matter, that she was just another face in the crowd, unnoticed and unimportant.

As she sat there, a flock of sparrows landed nearby, chirping and hopping playfully on the grass. Afua watched them absentmindedly, their carefree movements briefly distracting her from her worries.

That evening, Afua opened her Bible, seeking comfort. She stumbled upon Luke 12:7, where Jesus says:

“Indeed, the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.”

Afua paused, reading the verse again slowly. She thought back to the sparrows she had seen earlier in the park. They were small, ordinary birds, nothing flashy or remarkable. Yet, according to Jesus, even they were cared for by God.

And if God cared for the sparrows, how much more must He care for her?

The words, “the very hairs of your head are all numbered,” filled Afua with awe. She realised that God’s love for her was so personal and detailed that He even knew the number of hairs on her head. She wasn’t just another face in the crowd, she was deeply known and valued by the Creator of the universe.

Afua closed her Bible and whispered a prayer: “Lord, I feel so small, insignificant sometimes and hate myself. But thank You for reminding me that I matter to You. Help me to trust in Your care and to see myself the way You see me.”

Over the next few days, Afua began noticing small reminders of God’s care in her life and how beautiful she was.

  1. Provision in Unexpected Ways
Just when she thought she wouldn’t make rent, a freelance client unexpectedly paid her early. She smiled, realising God was providing for her needs, just as He promised.
  2. Encouragement Through Others
A coworker complimented her on a project, and a friend sent her a text out of the blue, saying, “I’m so grateful for you.” These little moments reminded Afua that she wasn’t invisible, God was using others to affirm her worth.
  3. A Renewed Sense of Purpose
Afua decided to incorporate her faith into her art project. She painted a scene of sparrows in a field, adding the words from Luke 12:7: “You are worth more than many sparrows.” The process of creating the painting helped her reflect on God’s love and care, and it became a source of encouragement for others when it was displayed in her local church.

As the weeks went by, Afua’s anxiety began to lessen. She still faced challenges, but she no longer felt alone or unimportant. She carried the truth of Luke 12:7 in her heart: that she was known, loved, and valued by God.

One afternoon, back at the park, she watched the sparrows again. This time, instead of feeling weighed down by worry, she felt a sense of peace.

“Thank You, God,” she whispered, “for caring for the sparrows and for caring so much more for me.”

Afua’s story reminds us of the profound truth in Luke 12:7: God cares for every detail of our lives. Even when we feel small, overlooked, or insignificant, we are deeply known and loved by Him.

If God takes care of the sparrows, how much more will He care for us? We don’t need to be afraid or anxious about our worth or our future. In His eyes, we are precious beyond measure.

May you find comfort in knowing that God sees you, knows you, and loves you. When life feels overwhelming, may you remember that the very hairs of your head are numbered and that you are worth more than many sparrows. Trust in His care, and rest in His unfailing love.

“Indeed, the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.” Luke 12:7

Heavenly Father, thank You for loving me so deeply and personally. Even when I feel small or insignificant, remind me of my worth in Your eyes. Help me to trust in Your care and to live with confidence in Your love. Thank You for providing for me and for knowing every detail of my life. In Jesus Name, Amen.

May you walk confidently, knowing that you are precious in His sight!
