In a small village surrounded by dense forests, there lived a young woman named Lisa. Lisa often walked through the woods to visit neighbouring villages, but the forest paths were winding and dark, especially at night. One evening, as she prepared to make her journey home, an older villager handed her an oil lamp and said, “Take this, child. It may not light the entire forest, but it will show you the next step.”

Grateful for the gift, Lisa set out on her journey. The lamp’s light pierced the darkness, illuminating just enough of the path for her to take her next step safely. As she walked, she remembered a Bible verse her grandmother had often recited:

“Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.” Psalm 119:105

The words sank into her heart. Just as the lamp guided her path that night, she realised God’s Word was her guide in life. It didn’t always reveal the entire journey, but it gave her enough light to walk forward in faith, step by step.

From that day on, Lisa began to approach her life differently. She made it a habit to start each morning by reading Scripture and asking God to guide her decisions. She realised that while life could feel uncertain and overwhelming, God’s Word was a steady and reliable source of truth and direction.

One day, Lisa faced a particularly difficult decision. She had the opportunity to move to a faraway city, Milton Keynes for work, but it meant leaving her family and the village she loved. She didn’t know what to do, so she prayed:

“Lord, I need Your guidance. Show me the way I should go. Help me to walk in the light of Your truth and to trust that You are leading me.”

As she read her Bible that morning, a verse stood out to her:

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight.” Proverbs 3:5-6

With this reassurance, Lisa chose to trust God. She took the opportunity, knowing He would guide her every step. And just as the oil lamp had lit her path through the dark forest, God’s Word lit her way through the uncertainties of life.

As Lisa settled into her new life, she experienced moments of doubt and homesickness. But every time she turned to God’s Word, she was reminded of His unchanging love and faithfulness. The more she read, the more she understood that God wasn’t just leading her. He was walking beside her.

One evening, as she reflected on her journey, Lisa whispered, “Thank You, Lord, for being my light, my guide, and my comfort. Your love has carried me through every step, and I will keep walking in the light of Your truth.”

May you walk in the light of God’s truth, guided by His Word and filled with the knowledge of His love. In moments of uncertainty, may His Word illuminate your path and give you the confidence to move forward, step by step.

“The unfolding of Your words gives light; it gives understanding to the simple.” Psalm 119:130

May the knowledge of His love fill your heart with peace, knowing that He is with you, guiding you, and leading you into His perfect plans.

Heavenly Father, I lift up the reader to you today, thank You for Your Word, which is a lamp to their feet and a light to their path. In Jesus Name, Amen.
